FIVE
SIDE EFFECTS.

Five macros from the same production scene. Only the camera and the focus move: the fruit, the steel, the drips and the blood are all in the render.

SAME TUB.
NO WARD.

The model the scene was built on, alone on white: the green tub with its real neck and lid, the band of logos around the lid and the label wrapped as print.

Production notes

Tub, kiwi slice, toxic drips, syringe, grapefruit, capsules, glassware, chains and hooks, the steel table and the tiled wall with its fan built and rendered in Blender (Cycles). The room is lit by what it contains: one lamp behind the fan blades throws the green shaft and the long shadows, a hard spot from the far left shapes the label, and a red warning lamp is the only other colour. The syringe is modelled part by part, with a printed scale, a ribbed stopper and a bevelled needle that goes 12 mm into the fruit. The kiwi lies flat on the lid, almost half of it over the edge, resting on the real surface. The drips are projected onto the tub's own mesh, so they follow the lid, the band and the label. Every contact was checked: nothing floats and nothing passes through anything else. Clay shows every scene object in one neutral grey with the haze removed. The unlabelled pass keeps the final camera and lights on the bare tub. The two earlier frames of "Push the dose" are real renders of the same scene: one in cold white light with no blood and no drips, one in the final light before the tub starts to run. Finals carry a lens pass: slight barrel, halation on the hottest lights, grain and grade. The label art was rebuilt from product photos for this study.
